Ozamiz, officially the City of Ozamiz (CebuanoDakbayan sa OzamizTagalogLungsod ng Ozamiz) or simply referred to as Ozamiz City, is a 3rd class city in the province of Misamis OccidentalPhilippines. According to the 2015 census, it has a population of 141,828 people.

Ozamiz City is also known for its great herritage. With history as unique as the people, Ozamiz City has one of the best tourist spots to offer for tourists and even locals alike, will have a time they won't regret.

Description

Fuerte dela Concepcion y del Triunfo also known as Fort of Misamis is a citadel first built by Spanish Jesuit priest and commander, Jose Ducos, for the town of Misamis in Mindanao island, now the modern city of Ozamiz, Philippines. Construction of the structure completed in 1756[2] It is made out of coral stone and has four bastions (baluarte) namely San Fernando, San Jose, Santiago and San Ignacio. The fort was built to serve as a Spanish outpost in the area. A special chapel was built inside the walls of the fort and an image of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception, was enshrined in the chapel and outside the fort on the wall facing the bay, was a carved image of the Virgin Mary (Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepción y del Triunfo de la Cruz de Migpangi). The image on the Cotta's wall is believed to be miraculously growing and has been the object of pilgrimage.

Description

Mount Malindang is a complex volcano located in the province of Misamis Occidental in the southern island of MindanaoPhilippines. It is the highest point in the province. The least studied mountain range was formed through several volcanic activities some of which could be historical, evident by the presence of two calderas, surrounded by high rock walls, cinder conesdome volcano plugs, two sulfurous hot springs, and a crater lake named Lake Duminagat. The amphitheater structures have extensive distribution of volcanic rocks, carbonized wood that are found in pyroclastic deposits. The mountain range is dissected by several canyons and ravines.

Mount Malindang Golf & Country Club is located at Misamis Occidental. This 9-hole golf course is situated right at the foot of Mount Malindand. Players on this course should hit on the front nine from the White tees, and on the back nine from the Blue tees. Obstacle trees are also dotted around the narrow fairway. Their golf course is also a house for exotic and unique birds.
Their facilities include a clubhouse, a small restaurant, shower rooms, comfort and locker rooms, and a conference room. This golf course is open to the public.
Accommodations around the area include the Asian Hotel, Hotel Ozamiz, Royal Garden Hotel, and many more. Tourist spots include the Bakayan Hill, Cotta Park, Hoyohay Zip Line, Naomi’s Botanical Garden, Cotta Park, and many more.

After the ceremonies, the bells were rung to mark the start of their being a symbol of peace and friendship between the Muslims and the Christian, the purpose for which Mayor Fernando T. Bernad conceived the idea of putting the bells on the top or Bukagan Hill.
